Are you a passionate Midwifery leader ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a dedicated Maternity Nurse Unit Manager to join a premier private hospital in Southern Sydney.

This is a pivotal leadership role within a modern, patient-centred Obstetric Department. Working closely with the Maternity Services Manager, you will lead with purpose, inspire with compassion, and ensure the highest standards of care for mothers, babies, and their families.

The Opportunity

As the Maternity Unit Manager, you will provide proactive leadership to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and clinical best practice.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Overseeing the day-to-day management of a busy Obstetric service.
  • Operational Excellence: Managing staffing, resources, and patient flow to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Collaborative Care: Working with Nurse Unit Managers across the hospital to optimise bed allocation and hospital-wide efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leading the review of clinical indicators and implementing innovative programs to enhance the consumer experience.
  • Professional Mentorship: Fostering a learning culture and supporting the physical and emotional wellbeing of your staff.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • Current Registration: Dual registration with AHPRA as both a Registered Nurse and Midwife.
  • Qualifications: A Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Health Management, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years clinical leadership experience within a Maternity Unit or relevant acute care environment.
  • Clinical Governance: Proven ability to lead National Standards and implement clinical governance frameworks.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Resource Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and procure resources effectively within a healthcare setting.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications in Leadership, Midwifery, or Health Management.
