Verus People is currently partnering with a leading healthcare provider in the Northern Territory to appoint a dedicated Remote Area Nurse to lead their Child Health Program.
This isn't just a clinical role; its a chance to take ownership of a specialist program designed to improve developmental outcomes for children in a remote Indigenous community. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on early intervention, immunisations, and family-led health education.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Drive the Child Health initiative, ensuring proactive health checks and developmental screenings are met with clinical excellence. Clinical Management: Oversee a dedicated client cohort, managing recalls and follow-ups to ensure no child falls through the gaps. Community Engagement: Collaborate with local stakeholders and families to deliver culturally safe health education strategies. Mentorship: Act as a senior clinical resource and mentor for community health workers and local staff.
What Youll Bring
Experience: Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years spent in remote or primary healthcare settings. Specialisation: A strong background (or postgraduate qualification) in paediatric, maternal, or child health. Cultural Competency: A deep understanding of the social determinants of health and a genuine commitment to working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Resilience: The ability to thrive in a remote environment and build lasting professional relationships.
