Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Triage Clinician to join our dynamic team in Southwest Queensland. This pivotal role supports our large hospitals commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centered mental health care. The successful candidate will play a key role in the assessment, triage, and support planning for consumers experiencing mental illness, psychological distress or crisis, ensuring timely and effective intervention.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments for consumers experiencing psychological distress, mental illness, or related concerns.
  • Provide expert consultation and advice to consumers, carers, stakeholders, and fellow health professionals.
  • Develop safety plans for individuals at risk of harm in the community.
  • Promote inclusive, carer and network engagement, ensuring collaborative decision-making.
  • Respond to consumer feedback and complaints in accordance with local procedures.
  • Take accountability for clinical decisions and seek guidance when required.
  • Actively contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings and clinical education forums.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead staff meetings, contributing to service development and quality improvement.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mental health nursing or clinical practice.
  • Relevant qualifications and current registration with AHPRA.
  • Advanced skills in mental health and risk assessment, including the formulation of safety and support plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level psychiatric consultation, including care planning for consumers with complex needs (e.g., dual diagnosis, psychological distress).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, across multiple sectors and disciplines.
