This high-acuity unit provides critical care support across an advanced clinical caseload, including complex post-operative recovery for cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, major orthopaedic, robotic, and general surgical procedures. Working within this sophisticated environment, you will join a close-knit, highly collaborative team of intensivists, surgeons, and critical care clinicians who pride themselves on a culture of mutual respect, clinical excellence, and absolute patient safety.

This position offers the perfect balance: a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating clinical environment paired with the relaxed, flexible lifestyle that only a Newcastle coastal location can provide.

Your Clinical Focus

Critical Care Delivery: Provide precise, high-level nursing interventions and continuous monitoring for critically ill or high-dependency patients.

Advanced Tech Management: Safely manage complex ICU equipment, including mechanical ventilators, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and invasive hemodynamic monitoring.

Physiological Assessment: Accurately interpret complex clinical data and changes in patient condition, collaborating rapidly with medical staff to adjust treatment plans.

Crisis Support: Deliver clear, compassionate communication and emotional support to patients and their families during critical, high-stress situations.

AHPRA Registered: Current, unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

Critical Care Track Record: Minimum 1224 months of recent experience working within an acute hospital ICU or Critical Care environment.

Specialist Qualifications: A post-graduate certificate or diploma in Intensive Care / Critical Care Nursing is highly regarded (or current progression toward one).

Why Join the Team?

Professional Investment: Benefit from extensive clinical education programs, funded conference leave, and clear mentorship pathways into clinical nurse specialist (CNS) or leadership roles.

Healthy Balance: Access highly collaborative, predictable shift patterns that actively protect your personal life and wellbeing. Top-Tier Remuneration: Premium base salaries reflecting your specialized skill set, robust shift penalties, and access to private health corporate discounts.
