Key Responsibilities

  • Perform expert scrub and scout duties specifically for adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate the precise needs of the surgical team, ensuring all specialized cardiac instrumentation, bypass equipment setups, and consumables are prepared and ready.
  • Maintain impeccable infection control and aseptic standards within high-stakes environments.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the broader theatre team, perfusionists, and anaesthetists to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.

Key Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience working as a Scrub Scout in an acute theatre environment, with a proven track record or dedicated focus in Cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Deep understanding of specialized cardiac instrumentation, equipment, and complex thoracic surgical workflows.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure, remaining calm, focused, and decisive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous professional development.
