About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Registered Nurse specialising in Orthopaedic Scrub Scout procedures. In this role, you will work closely with a renowned team of 15+ orthopaedic specialists across a broad, high-volume caseload.

You will navigate a diverse mix of advanced surgical procedures, including primary and complex robotic/navigated joint replacements (hips and knees), sports injuries (arthroscopic reconstructions), foot and ankle, upper limb (shoulder and elbow), and complex trauma management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional scrub and scouting support across a comprehensive range of elective and trauma orthopaedic procedures.
  • Prepare and manage specialised surgical instrumentation, including advanced robotic and navigated joint replacement equipment.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical and anaesthetic teams to ensure seamless intraoperative workflows.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively within a tight-knit perioperative team to foster a positive, efficient theatre environment.

Key Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 1224 months of recent experience working as a Scrub Scout nurse, with a strong, proven focus on major orthopaedic procedures.
  • Familiarity or experience with robotic/navigated joint replacement workflows is highly desirable but not essential (training provided).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
  • A strong commitment to patient safety and evidence-based clinical excellence.
